Today is my birthday. According to the calendar, I am another year older. Having said that, it’s unimportant, except that I have decided to do something different today, and for the rest of my life. I have made the decision to live my life the way I want, and today I start putting that into practice.
Have you ever been going along, minding your own business, when something suddenly hits you and changes the way you look at your entire life? I’m not talking about an accident or sudden misfortune, but a shift in perspective that causes what seems like total chaos to re-order itself into something completely different. I had such an experience this morning, and my life will never be the same.
I’ve realized a few things over the last week or two, things that have forever changed the way I look at myself. I once thought my calling in this life was to be a healer. I can finally admit to myself that I’m wrong, and that that’s not really what I want.
I know it’s a little early to be talking about next year, but as much as I wanted to write another post, this one keeps thrusting its way into my consciousness, demanding to be written.
I’ll tell you right up front - this is going to be a long post, because we’re going on a trip of sorts, to connect the dots to make my point. It all starts with a movie released in 1998, called still breathing.
