I decided at the last minute to change the title of this piece, which was originally going to be titled “single women don’t drive suv’s”, but I know from personal experience that’s not true.  So I was going to make it ’single women don’t drive suv’s unless they’re moms’, but that’s too long and sounds stupid, so urban oddities it is.

Ladies, I’m going to tell you the words most men fear more than any other: do these pants make me look fat?  Men don’t fear them because they’re fashion impaired, which a lot of men are.  Rather, they fear them because there’s no right answer to the question.

beltaine reflections

Beltaine has come and gone, and for the second consecutive year, instead of celebrating, I find myself dealing with the aftereffects of a break up with my girlfriend.  For those of you who don’t know, Beltaine is a Wiccan/pagan holiday and often involves fertility rites and all that implies.  Many Wiccans and pagans consider it one of their two big holidays of the year, but this year, like last, the day came and went almost unremembered, definitely not celebrated.

blind date

This past Tuesday I went on my first blind date ever, a double blind date actually.  A friend of mine from work set me up with someone he met, and my blind date set him up with someone she knew.  We met for lunch, and while everything went ok, I wouldn’t exactly call it great either.

online dating sucks

Ok, so maybe that’s a bit harsh, but the reality of it is, it’s a lot of work with only a glimmer of reward out there.  After several potential contacts at a dating site that shall remain nameless, I finally decided to bite the bullet and upgrade my membership so I could email a couple of them.
