put to the test

Author’s note - this was written last Wednesday.

Tonight is the last night of class at the dojo before the Christmas holiday. I am determined to do the things I need to do in order to get where I want to go, and going to class at the dojo is one of those things. Perhaps it is missing the last 4 classes and tonight’s final class of the year, but I find myself wanting to stay home instead of going. Though my lone decoration this year consists of the wreath hanging on my front door, I did celebrate Yule last night by doing ritual. This year’s ritual was different from year’s past, especially considering I haven’t done a Yule ritual in 3 years. Last night’s ritual was good, but intense. Namely, lack of things in common. Well, not entirely true, in this instance – it was a meeting of people with similar belief structures. But that’s not what the meeting was about. Rather, it was a chance for us to socialize and spend time with others. I described it to a friend of mine this way: as soon as I figure out that I want something, I stop doing anything or don’t start doing what I need to do in order to manifest it. I’ve noticed that in a lot of instances, the more I want something, the more I act in a completely opposite manner. Recently I’ve been wanting to meet new people for various reasons, but I haven’t been outgoing at all. In fact, I’ve been just the opposite – I’ve been intentionally isolating myself, spending as much time by myself as possible.
