objects may be closer than they appear

Sunday, January 18th, 2009

A lot has happened in the last three days or so.  I’ve learned a lot about myself in several areas, a lot of it good.

farewell

Thursday, January 15th, 2009

No, I’m not going to stop blogging, nor am I going anywhere.  I heard on the news this morning that actor Patrick McGoohan passed away yesterday at the age of 80.  For anyone reading this who wasn’t a fan, he was best known for his work in a tv series in the late 60’s called The Prisoner.  I’ve long been a fan of the show, and vague rumors have floated around the internet for several years about possibly making a movie from it.  I’m not going to write a eulogy, I’ll leave that to those who knew him better and are more eloquent.  I just want to say, Number Six, you truly are a free man now.  You will be remembered.

determination

Tuesday, January 13th, 2009

I just got home from jujitsu class around 7:30 tonight.  That’s a bit unusual in that I don’t normally go to the dojo on Tuesday nights.  However, it looks like I’ll be going to class more than 3 nights a week when its available.

misunderstanding

Sunday, January 11th, 2009

There’s a gap in my understanding of things.  The cause of this gap is not exactly clear to me, but I know it’s there.  In fact, there’s a lot of things I don’t know, or understand.  This particular gap applies to the Law of Attraction, LOA for short. I have suspected for a while that I was missing something, but not long ago that was made clear to me, though a roundabout manner.

diversion

Sunday, January 11th, 2009

Last night I did something I haven’t done in quite some time - I went to a SC Philharmonic concert.  I don’t listen to classical music much, though I do enjoy from time to time.  Last night was a bit different than usual for the orchestra as well.

confidence

Thursday, January 8th, 2009

I’ve been thinking about this subject a lot lately - wishing I had a bit more in some areas.  It’s amazing to me, how intertwined this is with faith, belief, and knowledge - things that are central to our way of living in this world.  I started thinking about this recently when I found myself wanting to achieve something, and I remember thinking to myself, if only I had the confidence to make this happen.  Which was a big clue that what I really wanted was confidence, not necessarily the thing itself.

luck

Wednesday, January 7th, 2009

The older I get and the more I see in this world, the more I’m convinced that people make their own luck.  More precisely, I think what people often refer to as luck isn’t really luck at all, but is a result of the subconscious mind made manifest in physical form.  Which brings us back to the Law of Attraction.

what’s your personality type?

Saturday, January 3rd, 2009

Saw this on a MySpace profile, just wanted to see if the results would be the same as it was when I took it years ago. Close, but not quite the same.

You Are An INTJ
The Scientist

You have a head for ideas - and you are good at improving systems.
Logical and strategic, you prefer for everything in your life to be organized.
You tend to be a bit skeptical. You’re both critical of yourself and of others.
Independent and stubborn, you tend to only befriend those who are a lot like you.

In love, you are always striving to improve your relationship.
You have strong ideas of what love should be like.

At work, you excel in figuring out difficult tasks. People think of you as “the brain.”
You would make an excellent scientist, engineer, or programmer.

How you see yourself: Reasonable, knowledgeable, and competent

When other people don’t get you, they see you as: Aloof, controlling, and insensitive

holiday reflections

Friday, January 2nd, 2009

Well, the holidays have come and mostly gone, except for a couple college bowl games.  It was a tough season for me - a flu like sickness in the middle of December, a cold over Christmas and New Years, thinking I’d lost a friend when really they were just taking care of some other business, and having to repair the water heater after I stupidly broke it - it’s been tough.  But it has had its bright moments also.

hacking life

Thursday, January 1st, 2009

I want to be a hacker - a hacker of life.  Before you recoil in horror or get angry over such a statement, let me explain what I really mean, which is likely different than what you think it means.
