shielding

Although it’s been more than a week since the martial arts clinic ended, it continues to have a profound effect on my life.  Especially the Huna 1 class.  Since then, my interest in metaphysical subjects has re-awakened.  Life is improving for me, and I’m feel more like myself than I have in a while.  I’m calmer at work too.  I have the Huna 1 class to thank for it.

A couple of the things we talked about in class were shielding and grounding, techniques that are used during energy work.  In this case, I’ve taken those techniques out of energy work and put them into the context of everyday life.  I find sometimes that I inadvertently expand my energy out and connect it with others, and eventually I get jittery, anxious, and otherwise unable to focus on what’s in front of me.  The person doesn’t always have to be in physically close to me either - I’ve discovered that I am energetically connected over distances as well, or at least have dispersed my energy over wide distances.  Neither is very good.

Thanks to the Huna 1 class, I’ve figured out how to prevent that, or change the situation when I figure out that’s happening.  Shielding is simply what it sounds like - containing my energy within my own space, and protecting it from the influence of others, though for me it’s more about containing my own energy.  Grounding is simply the process of returning my awareness to my own body and the connection between it and the earth.  Between the two techniques, I have been more focused and I’ve managed to mostly eliminate those jittery, unfocused feelings.

I knew about these techniques before class, but honestly, it’s been a while since I’ve done it.  Most of the information we covered in this class I already knew, but I’ve not seen it presented that way, and I learned some new techniques too.  Don’t get me wrong, I learned a lot too, but it looks like that class was exactly what I needed to kickstart me back down some paths I haven’t travelled in a while.
