my favorite time of day
Since I started my challenge some weeks ago, I’ve come to appreciate the absence of tv. Don’t get me wrong, there are still programs I like to watch - I just don’t turn on the tv by default, at least not most of the time. What I found, among other things, is that I really like early mornings and twilight.
I know a lot of people out there aren’t morning people, and that’s ok - but I am. I really like that period right after I get out of bed, where I’m waking up, not having to rush around getting ready for work yet. The silence just hangs in the air, like a deep breath before a plunge into action. The day still has the feel of anticipation to it, of things waiting to happen, possibilities to experience, and good things to come. It just sets the tone for the whole day.
I like twilight just as much. If the early morning is the pause before action, twilight is the exhalation when it’s all over. That sitting down sigh that says the day is over, relax, recover, get some rest, let the day’s events go and enjoy the feeling of accomplishment. Some days it’s more like - I survived somehow, thank goddess, then I can go about putting it behind me and cocooning myself in the sanctuary of my living room.
I realize this post isn’t earth shattering, or necessarily of any import to anyone other than myself, but I’ve found that much of the richness of my life is in appreciating the little things. Things that people don’t always notice. Just a thought.
