trial by fire

I know I haven’t been writing as much lately, about once a week or so, I’ve been quite busy.  It’s quite possible that my blogging may become even more irregular for the next few months.  It occurred to me the other day that the Palmetto Fall Clinic is just 5 months away - meaning my black belt test could be just 5 months away.  Problem is, I haven’t really gone to class the last couple months, so I may not be ready for the black belt test in November as I planned.

That’s not going to stop me from trying. I’m committing to making that my number one priority outside of work.  That’s going to mean going to class 5 days a week, not 3, and a lot of study and hard work outside the dojo as well.  I’m ready for it, I think.  I’m pretty sure I need it.  But that commitment is going to mean almost everything else becomes secondary - including writing this blog.

So my trial by fire is going to be walking the path I think I need to walk in order to get ready for that test.  I don’t know what’s waiting up ahead, what trials I’ll face, or obstacles I’ll encounter, but I’m going to find out.  I realize I need to work on my flexibility more too.  Though I am known at the school for being freakishly flexible already especially in my wrists, there are parts where I’m not flexible at all, so it’s time to buckle down and do some yoga too.  There’s going to be a lot of related, ancillary activities that I’ll be working on as well.  Meditation, writing my notebook out, and some other things I won’t go into here.

I thought it only fair to warn you.
