How many times have you gone to a restaurant, or movie, or someplace you like, or someplace you have to go like a grocery store, only to be assaulted by the noise of a kid screaming somewhere in the place?  Frankly, it happens far too often for my taste - especially since I don’t really like kids.

trial by fire

I know I haven’t been writing as much lately, about once a week or so, I’ve been quite busy.  It’s quite possible that my blogging may become even more irregular for the next few months.  It occurred to me the other day that the Palmetto Fall Clinic is just 5 months away - meaning my black belt test could be just 5 months away.  Problem is, I haven’t really gone to class the last couple months, so I may not be ready for the black belt test in November as I planned.

Ladies, I’m going to tell you the words most men fear more than any other: do these pants make me look fat?  Men don’t fear them because they’re fashion impaired, which a lot of men are.  Rather, they fear them because there’s no right answer to the question.

playing to not lose

This past weekend some friends and I got together for our regular monthly card game.  It’s a friendly low stakes game that gives us a chance to catch up with each other since we don’t work together anymore.  I lost a little bit of money - not a great deal, but the last few times I have lost money.  Looking back, I can clearly see the pattern of how I am playing - I don’t play to win, I play to not lose.  There’s a huge difference.

I’m pleased to say that I think the bout with the kidney stone is over and I’m back to normal, at least physically. As with most traumatic experiences, the mental effects are not so easily cast aside.
