rhythms

Friday, November 30th, 2007

It should come as no surprise to my regular readers that I believe there’s a rhythm to our lives. The way our hours string together, followed by days of hours, and months, and years. I know this terrotory has been tread many times before by some great thinkers, but I’d like to follow their path, at least a little bit.

still breathing

Sunday, November 25th, 2007

I’ll tell you right up front - this is going to be a long post, because we’re going on a trip of sorts, to connect the dots to make my point. It all starts with a movie released in 1998, called still breathing.

on sleep and dreams

Saturday, November 24th, 2007

Thanksgiving has come and gone, I hope yours was as good as mine.  I took the day off from life and went to the movies and did absolutely nothing.  Today I want to talk about that I have noticed a tendency over the last couple of weeks to sleep a bit more than usual.

random thoughts

The last couple days have been interesting.  Ok, that’s really just a euphemism for they sucked.  Not so much today, but definitely yesterday.  I was still tired yesterday from the weekend, couldn’t make it through jujitsu class.  that hasn’t happened in a while.  I think a lot of it has to do with my diet lately, which has been affected by the fact that I just haven’t felt like doing the dishes.

blind date

Friday, November 16th, 2007

This past Tuesday I went on my first blind date ever, a double blind date actually.  A friend of mine from work set me up with someone he met, and my blind date set him up with someone she knew.  We met for lunch, and while everything went ok, I wouldn’t exactly call it great either.

winds of change

back to normalcy

Whatever that is…  Anyway, the 2007 Palmetto Fall clinic ended yesterday.  It was four days of classes with some of the best martial arts instructors from all over the US, including Hawaii.  Every year is better than the last, and each year I think it can’t get any better, and so far, every time I’ve been wrong.
