Yesterday and today were a study of contrasts.  Yesterday I was restless, couldn’t hardly sit still, it was definitely worse after I got home than it was at work, where I couldn’t hardly sit still anyway.  Watching part of The Matrix helped, but it didn’t last long.  I had an unpleasant dream last night… I can’t say nightmare, because it wasn’t frightening, but I would have been better off without it, I think.  I kinda picked up where I left off this morning until I got to visit Riverbanks.

It’s that time of the year again. No, I’m not talking about the first Christmas ornaments making their appearance on store shelves, I’m talking about harvest time. At the risk of being cliché, I want to talk about the harvest going on in my life at the moment.

Ok, I put my new story out here, you can find it by clicking the Morning Prayer link under Pages to the right.  It’s just a second draft, so it may change before I’ve finalized it, but I feel pretty good about it.  I hope you like it.

I know it isn’t this way, but I feel as if I’ve been punished for taking a vacation.  My reward for taking 10 days off, 2 weekends, 5 weekdays plus a holiday, is going to be working 12 consecutive days.  I’m rather tired of work interfering in things I want to get done.

As I was beginning to get ready for bed last night, I received a phone call from a friend of mine.  Not too unusual, except for the time, which was later than she usually stays up.  After checking the message, I called her back immediately.  Someone I met several years ago, an acquaintance that I haven’t seen in some time, was killed last Wednesday when his car was hit head on by a drunk driver.  He was all of 20 years old.
