favorite movies

I’ve noticed that of my favorite movies, about half were commercial successes, and the other half were also rans at the box office.  I recently added a new movie to my top ten list, and it appears to be one of the latter.

I am referrng to the recently released Stardust, based on the novel by Neil Gaiman.  Featuring a high-powered cast, a good story line, and excellent dialog, I don’t understand why this movie hasn’t done better that it has.  I’m not sure where in my top ten list this going to fall yet, but I suspect as time goes on and I get the DVD that it will creep up into my top five, if not become number one or number two.  My current top ten list looks something like this:

  1. Serendipity
  2. Casablanca
  3. Ghost Dog: Way of the Samurai
  4. The Matrix
  5. Lord of the Rings series
  6. Star Wars, the first 3 films, not the last 3 disasters
  7. Simply Irresistable
  8. Dream for an Insomniac
  9. Stardust
  10. Kill Bill V1 + V2

The first 4 are in order, the rest aren’t.  Honorable mentions for my list: Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Hero, Sleepy Hollow, Blade, Blade Runner, The Nightmare Before Christmas, The Corpse Bride, and probably a few others I’m forgetting.

Anyway, I highly recommed Stardust, if you hadn’t guessed, and I suggest yo usee it soon, before it’s gone from the theatres.  This movie definitely looks good on the big screen.  Too bad it isn’t in IMAX, I’d go see it there.   Happy viewing.
