a perfect night, and more

I hadn’t really intended to write anything about my date last night, but now, I think I’ve heard everything there is to hear…

After a nice dinner, we went to a small bar downtown called the Speakeasy, a jazz club with good music and ambience.  Around 10, they shut down the regular music and a live band started playing.  They started out with a couple of lounge/jazz standards, rearranged for their particular style, but a few tunes, then I knew I’d heard it all - a jazz rendition of Sir Mixalot’s Baby Got Back.  I  don’t believe I’ve laughed that hard in a while.  The funniest part of it was, he sang it with a completely straight face, just like it was another serious song… I’m chuckling just thinking about it. I have no idea how he managed to keep a straight face.  And as if that weren’t enough, they finished the set with a Youngbloodz song, Got My Mind on My Money, which I knew I’d heard but couldn’t place because it was so different.  They just needed to add a little Guns N Roses, Rolling Stones, or Aerosmith to the set and it would have been complete… :)

All in all, it was a perfect night - good food, good conversation, and great company.  My date was perfect too.  She’s smart, she’s funny, she’s good-looking, she’s - well, you get the idea.  She’s an amazing woman, and I’m very much looking forward to spending more time with her.  We were out late last night, late for me anyway, and despite my sleep shortened evening, I’m not really tired like I would normally be.  I guess perfect nights will do that for you…
