winds of change

Well, 2007 is certainly turning out to be busy, if nothing else.  Last Thursday my old supervisor cut a deal with my current one to get me to back to work for him.

It’s a good deal for me and my old supervisor, it wasn’t any secret I wasn’t happy working under the manager I’ve been under the last few months.  I’ve had more than philosophical differences with my manager the last few months since he took over, not surprisingly, mainly because I don’t believe he’s a very good manager.  I’m back under management that I understand, that understands me, and is a bit more reasonable in their expectations.

This move does come at a price though.  The project I’ll be working on is the most visible to company executives at the moment, and the project uses some technology I haven’t used before.  There’s a pretty significant learning curve… and i’m behind.  I was supposed to get through a lot of technical material this weekend, and while I have done that, it hasn’t been as fast or as much as I’d hoped.  Guess I’ll have to do what I always do: get enough to get by, and figure out the rest as I go along.  I just hope I can figure out enough to have an idea what I’m doing tomorrow.

As I’ve said before, 2007 is going to be a very good year for me.  It already has been, I’m getting a lot of the things I want already, more than I could have hoped for, and I know there are more changes on the way.  The next big change I think will happen is finding someone to date.  I think I’m ready for a woman to come back into my life again, but in a much more gentle way than the last one.  She’ll show up when the time is right.  But until she does, I’m happy with my life the way it is now.
