crossroads
For you readers that I haven’t told this to yet, I decided to try my hand at online dating a little while ago. And now that my profile has been out there for a little while, I’ve come to one inescapable conclusion: online dating sucks.
I haven’t actually met anyone I care to meet, most of the women I’ve been contacted by are scammers. I’m starting to think that the internet has become the new criminal hangout, because there certainly seems to be a scarcity of decent people available. I’ve removed my profile from a couple of sites already, and it’s quite likely I’ll remove it from the rest of them by the end of the month.
What precipitated this was some emails I received at a couple of sites that I don’t belong to any longer. One site I could read the emails, but not respond, and the other site wanted me to pay just to read the emails. This doesn’t make a lot of sense to me, really. I mean, I cna sign up at hotmail, or gmail, or yahoo, or any number of free online email sites. Why in the world would I fork over $25 - $35 a month for what amounts to the same service? Someone’s making money off of it. Maybe I should be running an online dating site, it seems to be fairly lucrative.
I think I’m just fed up with it all. My life is pretty damn good right now, and it’s only going to get better. Let’s be honest - I’d like to share my life with someone again, but I don’t need to. I’m pretty happy with the way things are going now. I have better things to do with my time than look around the online dating sites, so I’m over it. If I meet someone, in whatever fashion, fine. If I don’t, that’s fine too. I’m happy, and that’s all that really matters. So to all the dating sites out there that want to charge a bunch of money for what I can do for free on myspace.com and a free email site - up yours. If you really worked like you say you do, why do you stil have so many members?

It is a cheaper way of dating…..and sucks at times when you need a hug!
