coincidences
I received an email a couple days ago that I have to think was more than coincidence. It’s a newsletter from the Science of Being Well, a site that links how we think to our physical health, and how to change our thinking to improve our health. The email contained a couple of articles about Ho’oponopono, a Hawaiian healing method pretty much unknown here in the states.
This email is not just a coincidence, but a sign, an indication that I’m doing the right thing and a reminder to stay on the path of martial arts. At last year’s Palmetto Fall Clinic, I had the good fortune to be taught Ho’oponopono by a Hawaiian Kahuna, although the information I ws given was a bit different than what was given in these articles. As circumstance would have it, this year’s Fall Clinic is just two weeks away, which I am going to, and this teacher will be back again this year.
Although I won’t go into the technique he taught us, out of respect and to make sure I don’t teach it improperly, I don’t mind sharing some of the other things he said. Ho’opono means to make things right with yourself - Ho’oponopono means to make things right with another person. On a spiritual level, he told us that when we what he taught us to do, we become a light bearer, with its attendant responsibilities. On a mundane level, when two people fought and then wished to make Ho’oponopono, a Kahuna was brought in as an arbitrator. Often friends or family were involved also, and the expectation was that when the session was over, the past would be forgiven and forgotten, as it were, and both people would move on.
One last thing that makes me think it’s really not coincidental: what I just described is exactly where I’m at, I am working on making things right with myself and others.
If you want to learn more about the subject as written in the articles I received, which I won’t post here due to length and copyright issues, please visit the site mentioned in the email: http://www.hooponopono.org.
