sleepy sunday
I had a good weekend this past weekend. Saturday during the day I did my usual shopping/clean up routine, along with a reading from a very good astrologer, and got to hang out with my friends from work on Saturday night, I was up late Saturday night - somewhere between 2 - 3 am, then up again around 7:30 Sunday morning. I was a bit tired, as you can imagine.
My usual response on days like that is to take a nap in the afternoon while a movie plays in the dvd player. But for some reason I didn’t do that yesterday. Maybe it was because I did that on Saturday, I’m not really sure. Regardless, I decided to go to bed early last night, before 8. (that’s why I didn’t answer your second phone call E.) I read for a little bit, but a few minutes after 8, I decided to do something I haven’t done in over 20 years - I went and got my portable stereo , brought it in the bedroom, and put a cd in and just listened to it while I laid in bed.
I used to do this kind of meditation all the time when I was younger - not always to music. I used to be a big baseball fan as well. In high school, it wasn’t unusual for me to lay down on the bed, close my eyes, and turn on the Denver Bears’ game, the minor league baseball team before they became the Zephyrs and well before the Colorado Rockies came along. I’m no longer a baseball fan, that just sort of ended a while ago, but I do love music.
So my music of choice last night was the enchanting sound of Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac, the first album Fleetwood Mac did after Stevie and Lindsey joined them. I fell asleep sometime during the song Rhiannon, I think - I don’t reallly remember. I just remember tossing a bit at first, trying to find a comfortable position, then feeling really relaxed while the music flowed out of the stereo. I’d forgotten how much I liked doing that. Somethings are worth remembering and doing again, even after all these years.
