Lammas 2006
In the interest of making my my sabbat rituals available online, here’s the one from Lughnasad, or Lammas. In the future, I hope to have these online prior to the sabbat, not after. Please feel free to copy and/or modify if you want to suit your own tradition. Note that I wrote this ritual to start in the North, rather than the East - the tradition I follow typically starts there, although there are times when I start in the East. I’m not a dogmatist, so if your tradition starts there, change the ritual. Also, I did not include a cakes an ale in this ritual, although most will have it. It’s more about available prep time and outside factors, rather than not wanting to do it.
Cleanse circle with salt and water
while sprinkling water say
Water and salt by casting thee,
let no unknown spell nor purpose be,
not in true accord with me,
as is my will, so mote it be!
Cleanse circle with incense
while censing circle say
Fire and air this charge I lay,
let no unknown phantom nor spirit in my presence stay,
not in true accord with me,
as is my will, so mote it be!
Cast circle
We stand in a world between worlds, in a time between times.
The circle is cast!

Open now the gates to the Realm of Water, bring your energies of intuition, cleansing, and emotion, we invite and invoke thee to join our circle! Welcome.
Call Lord and Lady
Lady
Goddess Hecate, Lady Cerridwen, Great Crones, we invite and invoke thee into our circle this Lammas eve. Bring your energies of closure and rest as we celebrate the returning of the Sun God to the Summerlands. Witness and bless this rite as we celebrate the turning of the wheel. Welcome crones, one and all!
